What I wonder is, do those who use it in regard to folk who chase excursions (heck I've never even seen a 3' ga. excursion train!) w/o buying tickets think it also applies to somebody who chases regularly scheduled trains?

If I go down and take pictures of Amtrak when it goes thru(w/o stopping) here tonite, am I Freeloading? How 'bout if, by some miracle, I find myself on hwy 550 and take a picture of some random D&S train, again w/o buying a ticket, is that "Freeloading?" What about taking a picture of one of the business cars when somebody else has forked out the dough to have it put on the train that day?

:)

Hello All,

May I remind you, it's a PUBLIC library. Paid for through taxes and donations. What good is a library that will not share the information contained within??? I would say the same about a City Museum that wouldn't open the doors. Or a municipal park that wouldn't let you on the grass.

I can surely understand preservation, but at what cost? How much good will it do anyone to have an item of great interest, and keep that item locked away so no one can ever see it?

Does this all come down to the conflict between pride and preservation? Pride in the materials owned versus Preservation of those materials.

What good is a train if no one can appreciate it in his own way.

NOW to define FREELOADING: Taking gifts (donations) without giving back in the same spirit!

Just curious, would the information you seek be available to you if you were actually in the library?

Well shot I must be the biggest freeloader of them all if its defined as watching without paying. I had most security at the D&SNG know me for showing up every summer doing this  The name Dutch isn't hard to remember. Still have some engine men know me on site. Wife calls the railroad my mistress. Guess that would have to do with dumping her on our honey moon for a cab ride. HE HE
